ISLIP OXFORD
The Red Lion is set in the heart of the village of Islip, Birth place to King Edward the Confessor, to which the village holds annual re-enactments to his Great Battles. It has many pleasant walks as the village sits on the beautiful river Ray, and borders the Moors of Otmoor, home to the Nature reserve of the RSPCB. The pub its self dates back to the mid 17th century when the Village was the main over night resting for the men and horses on route to Worcester from London. It still retains its traditional features and traditions not only of real ales but of an Aunt Sally Team, Indoor Skittles, Pool Team and Dart teams. We Provide a classic pub menu complimented with the Black Rock Grill, which is a 21st century dining concept that is based on the principle of cooking on stones, a practice dating back many thousands of years, the steaks available range from Fillet, Rump, Tuna, Wild Boar, Ostrich, Kangaroo, Red Deer and specials such as Crocodile.
